The Civic Centre is one of the community’s best examples of Modern architecture. Designed by architects Marani, Rounthwaite, and Dick, the distinct exterior of this 90,000-square-foot building is made up of brown porcelain panels and gold-tinted mirror glass. Its interior features a theatre-style council chamber based on the Roman forum. You can also enjoy a greenhouse of native and semi-tropical plants between the third and sixth levels.
Inside the Civic Centre, you will experience many works of art by local artists. An open area on Level 3 showcases portraits of the City’s past Mayors. Can you spot the crests, paintings, sculptures, and lithographs displayed throughout the building?
