One of the City’s longest-serving mayors, John Rowswell was Mayor of Sault Ste. Marie from 2000 until 2010. Rowswell was instrumental in the conception of the Hub Trail in 2006 as a safe, accessible, multi-use transportation system. Since its completion, the Hub Trail has become a popular way to get around the city. The Hub Trail was renamed the John Rowswell Hub Trail after his death. This dedication stone was installed in August 2011 to recognize his legacy in Sault Ste. Marie.
