Do you have a favourite teacher? Many people in Sault Ste. Marie admired Anna McCrea. She always went the extra mile for her students and their families.
Between 1914 and 1941, “Miss McCrea” was the principal of McFadden Public School. She taught at a time when immigrants were often treated poorly. But Anna was friendly to newcomers.
During the Great Depression she gave food to hungry families. She helped children get glasses, go to summer camp, and go on field trips. Anna McCrea Public School was named after her in 1956.
