Red Osier Dogwood, as its name suggests, is a shrub with dark red stems and buds. It is a native species and is found all across Canada. Red Osier Dogwood is an important plant for the local wildlife. Animals use the Dogwood’s branches as shelter, and the fruit is eaten by birds and mammals. Human have used dogwood in the past for a variety of uses including thing like baskets, pipes, tool handles and even golf clubs!
