Did you know that the environment is a lot like your body? Both are complex systems that need to be maintained and kept healthy. Scientists are like environmental doctors. Like the doctors at the hospital, scientists come from all over the world to our research centres where they conduct experiments and discover new ways to take care of the planet.

For example, innovative landscaping can prevent flooding and erosion by giving water pathways to flow through an area. Keep an eye out for drainage measures like boulders, gravel, and mesh beside the Trail.

Hearty Artie tip: When you walk quickly or run, your heart rate speeds up to help move air and blood through your body. Take breaks when you get tired to give your hard-working heart a rest!
